40 Blake Road was the home of Harry and Gertrude Levy and their family who moved here from Boston. They were listed in the Street List at this address until 1968.

Levy Hardware on Stuart Street in BostonHarry Levy (1891-1981) was born in Volkovysk, Russia (now Belarus) in 1891 and came to the United States as a boy. He owned and operated a hardware store, Levy Hardware, in Boston. It is seen, at 25 Stuart Street, at the far right of the photo (and in the close-up view) from the 1950s. 

Gertrude Levy (1896-1990) was born in Russia and came to the U.S. in 1898.

Their son George, a 1937 graduate of MIT, was a captain in the chemical warfare section of the Army during World War II. Sometime after the war, he took over the hardware business which moved from Boston to Newton.

George Levy died in 1982.
