Builder Roy A. Hicks, who lived on Linden Street, built three houses on the west side of Somerset Road in 1927 (#s 14, 18, and 24).

18 Somerset Road was the home Frank D. and Eda L. McIndoe and their family. The McIndoes lived here until the early 1950s. Frank McIndoe (born New York 1885) was a salesman for a chemical company. He and his wife Eda (1890-1966) had two daughters, Eda and Helen, who were around 12 and 13 when the family moved here and had moved out by the mid-1940s.

The 1930 U.S. Census listed the residents as: Frank McIndoe, 45, salesman (chemicals), born New York; Edna McIndoe, 39, born Illinois; and Annie Murray, 22, maid, born Irish Free State. (The McIndoe's daughters were not listed for some reason.) They were paying $100 per month to rent the house.
